I started blowing glass in the summer of 2022. I took part in an apprenticeship here at Tesuque Glass Works and have been working here since. Before this, I attended St. John's College where we study philosophy.
Glass blowing made sense to me. Before blowing glass I had worked with clay, wood, metal, stone, stained glass, as well as other fine arts, which I had an affinity for. Glassblowing showed itself to be a perfect outlet for me to incorporate the skills I had learned from those various mediums into one. As a glassblower, I get to sculpt a clear formless liquid and impart it with any color composition I can imagine through my attention to and understanding of it as it exists within the world under imposed conditions.
